Please note: Our name has changed to: The Mid-Atlantic Rubber Group (WWW.MARUBBER.ORG)
The Midatlantic Rubber Group is governed by a
Constitution and By-laws administered by an Executive Committee composed of
Officers and a Board of Directors. Officers include a Chairman, Vice Chairman,
Secretary, and Treasurer elected every 2 years. The Board reflects the
composition of the industry and is typically made up of three members from
the manufacturing side and three members from the suppliers side; the Board
also includes the immediate past Chairman, the Rubber Division Area
Director, the Historian, and the editor of the MARG News.
Officer and Director candidates are selected by a Nominating Committee
and are presented to the membership in September.
MARG's standing committees are: Scholarship & Education, Publicity,
Solicitation & Finance and Nominating. The Chairman may establish other
committees as required.
The MARG has also regularly provided local arrangements for the national
meeting of the American Chemical Society's Rubber Division in the
Midatlantic area.

Technical Meetings
Three meetings --Winter, Spring and Fall -- form the core of MARG
activities. These sessions serve a dual function: Technical discussions on
various topics help members stay abreast of ever changing technology; and
management-oriented symposia, given by nationally recognized experts, help
members perform their jobs more effectively.
A social hour and dinner typically follow technical sessions. During the
social hour members have many opportunities to exchange information with
others with similar interests and problems, be it technical, marketing, or
manufacturing. Members also have a chance to further discuss topics
pertinent to their own work with the speakers after the presentations. The
choice of After-Dinner Speakers is done with an eye toward contemporary
needs, both business and technical. While the meetings are educational in
nature, they are entertaining as well.
Supplementing these key meetings is a host of other activities, both
social and educational. They reflect the MARG's well delineated goals,
namely, professional growth and advancement and personal fellowship within
the rubber community.
MARG News
The communication organ of the MARG, MARG News, is published in
conjunction with each of the three Technical Meetings. MARG News features
reports of various activities of the MARG and the Rubber Division.
Best Paper Award
An award is made annually to the presenter of the best technical paper
given at the Technical Meetings. It is an effort to continually improve the
quality of presentations.
The winner of the 2003 Best Paper presentation is Mr. Martin Belisario, for
his presentation of "Role of Employee in Reserving Intellectual
Property." The MARG Board and members want to congratulate Mr.
Belisario on an excellent presentation.
Scholarships
To encourage continued growth of our industry, the MARG awards a scholarship
annually to promising science or engineering students at accredited colleges
or universities. The students must be entering their junior or senior
years.

Education
Periodically courses sponsored by the Education Committee are offered on
the Basics of Rubber and Rubber Technology. In addition, the MARG provides
speakers for seminars on rubber technology to local high schools and
colleges.
Solicitation Drive
Primary funding for MARG activities comes from membership dues. To fully
maintain these various activities however, companies associated with the
rubber industry are solicited once a year. These funds help underwrite the
Technical Meetings, provide the Scholarships, and finance various group
publications.
Golf Outing
Each year the MARG arranges golf outings for members and their
associates. These gatherings bring together a diverse group of
individuals for welcomed social events.
The MARG's Annual Golf Outings are held in the summer at the
Downingtown Country Club in Downingtown, PA and in the fall at the Black Bear Country Club in Franklin, NJ Click
